When my daughter Myla was a baby, she didn't want her grandparents to hold her.
She was little. She needed to see a face regularly to feel safe with it. And three months was just too long in between.
I watched my parents reach out for her and saw Myla pull back in tears. Something in me broke a little. These are the people who love her most in this world, and she didn't recognize them as safe yet.
I couldn't fix the distance. But I thought, what if she saw their faces every single day? Not on a screen. In a book. During the part of the day she loves most.
That's how Peek-A-Photo started. Not in a boardroom. At a kitchen table, after bedtime, with a notebook full of sketches and a lot of hope.
I'm Maribel, mom of two girls, and the person who spent two years turning that kitchen table idea into a patent-pending product because I genuinely believe families shouldn't feel like strangers to each other.
Every book we make carries that original hope with it. That your little one will lift a flap, see a face they love, and feel a little more connected to the people who are counting down the days until they can hold them again.
With love from our family to yours,
Maribel, Myla, & Melany
P.S. The best stories are the ones filled with the faces we love most! 💕
